Leakage resistance to
penetration of artificial blood(1) and artificial
urine(2) (NFPA 1971-97 and ASTM F903)
Procedure B: Samples were exposed to artificial blood and
artificial urine under 0 psi for 5 min followed by 1 psi (pound per
square inch) for 10 min.

Conclusion : The Mystex™ fabric is leak-proof.
Note 1: The artificial blood is composed of
the following: 25 g Acrysol G110 and 10 g Direct Red 81 in 1 liter
of distilled water.
Note 2: Artificial urine; 0,64 g CaCl2 ;
1,14 g MgSO4; 8,20 g NaCl and 20,0 g urea in 1 liter of distilled
water.
Absorption and retention of artificial blood(1) and
artificial urine(2)
The specimen were soaked in the chemical for 1 minute
and drained for 10 minutes. The specimens are weighted before and
after treatment to obtain the absorption values . Then they are
exposed to a centrifugal force of 100 g for 5 minutes to obtain the
retention values.

Conclusion:.The fabric absorbs over 8 times
its own weight and and very easy to restore after washing.

Antimicrobiological test results
The Mystex material
used in the Releafwear impermeable sections is inherently
antimicrobial as indicated by the following results conducted with
the Staphylococcus
aureus a bacterium commonly used to measure resistance to
microbiological agents. Staphylococcus aureus (S. Aureus) is a bug
carried by a third of the population and is one of the most common bacteria. It
is known to cause a variety of infections and toxins in humans. It causes
superficial skin lesions such as boils, styes and furunculosis; more serious
infections such as pneumonia, mastitis, phlebitis, meningitis, and urinary tract
infections; and deep-seated infections. S. aureus is a major cause of hospital
acquired (nosocomial) infection of surgical wounds and infections associated
with indwelling medical devices. It also causes food poisoning and toxic shock
syndrome. Hospital patients and seniors in nursing homes are particularly at
risk of infection because they often have exposed wounds and a weakened immune
system.
Test method AATCC 100
This test method provides a quantitative procedure for
the evaluation of the degree of antibacterial activity. Assessment
of antibacterial activity finishes on textile material is determined
by the degree of antibacterial activity intended in the use of such
materials. . Quantitative evaluation also provides a clearer picture
for possible uses of such treated textile materials.*Extract from American

Conclusion: The presence of inhibition on
the sample is demonstrated. The fact that the zone of inhibition is
very narrow is an indication that the active agent on the fabric is
permanent and does not leach out in the laundering process thus
ensuring the longevity of the antimicrobiological effect.
STAIN RELEASE OF ARTIFICIAL BLOOD
(Method AATCC 130 -1990 )
Procedure : 5 drops of artificial blood was stained on the
sample. The stained sample was washed in the washing machine with a high level
of water and 1,8 kg load at 40 C for 12 minutes then dried in the tumble drier
at cotton/sturdy setting for 45 minutes. Thje stain after washing was evaluated
by gray scale.

* Gray scale 5 : no stain; Gray scale 1: serious stain
Conclusion: Blood stains can be washed off from the
Mystex fabric
Note 1: The artificial blood is composed of the following:25 g Acrysol G110 and 10 g
Direct Red 81 in 1 liter of distilled water.
